Finally I went to one of Woolly Mammoth’s (7th & D) “Pay What You Can” nights and left feeling excited and energized. The play was David Adjmi’s take on the Syrian-Jewish community in Brooklyn, and what happens when life takes one young newlywed outside the bubble. (Lesbian maids, semiotics, battery, the downside of Pig Latin, bitchy sisters and more!) The play is Stunning. “Pay What You Can” again on Tuesday, March 11 (wait in line 90 minutes prior to showtime for tickets as cheap as $1, or whatever you want to pay) . Running through April 6.

The play is brilliant. I was there last night too, the electricity in the room was palpable. It is still in a rough stage (was first show, and they had to stop a bunch of times) but this is an extraordinary talent.
Comment by Linda March 11, 2008 @ 7:53 amI’m not sure why, but this play keeps getting starred reviews in the Post. Have they seen it?
