Judging by the heat, one could say Summer has arrived. Really, it started May 2nd when Iron Man was released (And he’s back this weekend). We’re in the thick of it now with Indy having arrived and left its depressing mark on our collective consciousness. That was a hard one to digest but some lovely soul out there has offered some Pepto in the form of the Frank Darabont script that George Lucas famously rejected despite the approval of Spielberg and Ford. Following up on our commentary on movie critics: Anthony Lane mauled Sex and the City. Now he’s catching some flack for an anti-female streak he’s on. Sometimes we just gotta keep it to ourselves, guys.

Well, it was Cannes week recently and let me just begin by admitting that this is my favorite film festival in the world. There, I said it. I totally buy in to the glitz. And I love seeing the beautiful stars on the red carpet with their schlub filmmaker companions (no disrespect). But also, just look at the past winners. Classics, all of them. In fact, this would be a good netflix cue for all you filmnoramuses out there.
