YES: Art for the masses by rachels

And now for another in a series of posts in which I circle things I like in Photoshop.

This time it’s a collaboration between art-branding company ARTCO (led by Cary Leitzes) and Pepsi. Lietzes identified rising artists from some of Pepsi’s largest markets (USA, China, Puerto Rico, Korea, Brazil, India, UK, Russia & Mexico) to design new cans.

Although many disagree on the whole Coke vs. Pepsi taste debate (I myself prefer regular Coke or Diet Pepsi), I think we can all agree that Coca-Cola has always had the more iconic design. Will these new cans change that? Probably not, and they will most likely not be sold in the US, but at least we can look at pictures of them online.

Chris Cooley has a blog, and in his most recent entry, he showcases his artistic skills. While I would love to leave it at naked ladies and 80’s band logo’s, I think the best will have to be the “Floater to Yoder” (bottom right corner). I believe this was inspired by that incredible Todd Collins pass to Yoder against the Bears last year when Jason Campbell first injured his knee and everybody was crying cause we thought Collins was a scrub, and then all of a sudden we were down the field and there was Todd Yoder and it was insane! Oh man, with the Caps out, and the Wiz struggling, its a good thing we got stuff like the NFL Draft and Chris Cooley to keep us from becoming New Orleans Hornets fans.

Another entry in what seems destined to become a recurring feature, spotlighting the drunken ramblings of zzvvhh an unnamed patron of everyone’s favorite Arlington bar. Today’s quote:

“You know what I hate? Life, music, freedom.”

Alright nerds, I’m only posting about this once.  Guillermo Del Toro is officially going to spend the next four years in New Zealand making The Hobbit and The Hobbit 2.  In terms of Hollywood blockbusters, this could be the greatest teaming of minds since Lucas and Spielberg.

At least not for anyone who actually bought tickets to this. From the Drafthouse newsletter: “Craig Ferguson will not be appearing at Nick Thune’s [sic] comedy show at the Drafthouse tonight. Because of this last second change of line-up we are offering tickets to Nick’s [sic] show at ONLY $10!” That’s…. great! No, I didn’t mean that at all.

Are you kidding me? Because I’m going to trust someone you paid to complain over the 3,000 people who are already complaining? Why don’t you give me $175K to tell you that your company fucking sucks? To quote Sarah Marshall: booshit.

Mustaches are out, right? (Phew!) I’m only asking because of this awful themed party tonight at the Front Page. If you and your friends have grown mustaches over the last few weeks in preparation for this event please do not feel good about yourself. Anyway, it’s all about the glasses right now…or not.
