New trailer for new J.J. Abrams show Fringe coming at you this fall on FOX! From the writers of Transformers (…) Could it get any better? Worse? Will you watch? Does it depend what day of the week it’s on? Man we really need that wordpress polling plug-in…

So Pacey is now a rogue operative in cahoots with a shadow branch of the FBI or something? Meh, I guess that’s more believable than the series finale of Dawson’s Creek.

But to answer the question: NO. JJ Abrams comes out of the gate like awesome on steroids, but has a tendency to either get bored or run out of ideas and it shows. Lost is supposedly back on track, but is anybody still watching? Alias was occasionally silly in a self-aware way, but after season 2’s doofy time travelesque cliffhanger, the laughs were no longer intentional. Can he maintain hype and compelling stories for what already looks like a retread of the X-Files?

RE: Lost: I’m still watching, but– lest we forget– JJ doesn’t run that show any more; Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof do. I just watched this trailer w/o sound, since I’m at work, but I’m pretty confident that [current Oceanic creep] Lieutenant Daniels will make things right. Plus, at least Joshua J’s working– JVDB, where art thou?

Oh, right.
