YES: Shark week for Gilbert Arenas by rachels

Everyone stop what you’re doing now and immediately read Wizards star Gilbert Arenas’ blog. It is amazing. Even the Washington Post can’t get enough of Arenas’ frank, to the point writing about his new shark tank:

“…Then I’ll have my personal shark tank that’s going to be in my basement. My basement used to be my weight room but I’m converting it to a shark tank. I cut a whole wall out down there and replaced it with a 10,000 gallon shark tank. That’s going to be my aggressive tank, only filled with bullhead sharks. If anybody knows what a bullhead shark is, it’s the No. 1 killing shark in America. It can go in salt water and it can go in fresh water. I’m going to have a salt water tank so I can have my eels and my stingrays too.”

YES: GAS PRICE HIKE – The gift that keeps on giving by rachels

Not only have recent upsurges in gas prices directed conversations from the water cooler to the White House to rethinking current energy policies, gas price increases are also saving lives!

According to the National Safety Council, the U.S. experienced an overall 9% decrease in motor vehicle deaths in May.

This isn’t the first time. The Arab oil embargo in 1973 dropped traffic-related deaths down by a whopping 17%. Walking may take longer, but it is nowhere near as deadly.

Today on The Kojo Nnamdi Show, the “Visual Arts Roundup” gets Kojo and friends discussing how “D.C. fashion” is becoming less of an oxymoron.

“Kojo is in a pink shirt with a double collar and looking pretty darn dapper…”

On the bright side, there’s nowhere to go from here but up.

“As part of the deal, 50 Cent would also have to make an appearance at any Taco Bell location around the country he chooses and rap his order in the drive thru with his new name.”

News Minute: Will Clinton supporters drink an Obama-tini? by rachels

Call me ill-informed, but it was not until I read last week’s New Yorker’s “The Talk of the Town” that I realized how hard the Obama campaign is going to have to work for the hearts and minds and wallets of Clinton supporters. To me, the transition seems natural, after all the two follow nearly identical domestic policy plans, foreign policy was a give and take, and Obama won the primary race fair and square. What’s missing now, however, is the question of the “Obama-tini.” Continue reading

Following up on our commentary on movie critics: Anthony Lane mauled Sex and the City. Now he’s catching some flack for an anti-female streak he’s on. Sometimes we just gotta keep it to ourselves, guys.
